A violin labeled 'Kronelo Pireno' made about 1890

belly back

This is a fairly common type of 'Stradivari' model factory violin from the late 19th century. Some worker in more recent times has repaired it, after what seems to have been quite a bad accident which left both sides of the bassbar area of the belly fractured. The repairs seem adequately executed, then the violin was stripped of most varnish and somewhat unevenly re-varnished. The result is rather odd looking, though perhaps not quite ugly. This repairer for some reason also inserted a faked antique label saying 'Kronelo Pireno' which so far as I can find is a fictitious name. The sound is quite focused with decent volume and a sustained ring, and the current condition seems quite decent.
