This lovely violin has an immediate response to the bow and a sound rich with overtones. It has recently undergone a full restoration to repair two winter dryness related cracks, the only repairs in close to 100 years, and is in excellent health. Made in the Markneukirchen district probably during the 1920's, the workmanship and materials are of a very high standard. Antiquing methods were used by the maker to simulate quite a few decades of use when it was new and it has not been very significantly worn since leaving that shop. As the tuning peg holes are somewhat worn I fitted internally geared pegs making tuning very easy at any time of year.. |
