A bright, lively sounding German violin
This violin has a neck several millimetres shorter than the full-scale standard, and the body is also slightly small. It makes for a very easy instrument to play for someone of smaller stature, and the sound is abundantly bright and clear in spite of the smaller size, which is after all only a matter of slight degree - it's closer to a full-sized violin than a 7/8ths. The condition is nearly perfect in terms of cracking or other damage. Minor bumps here and there, a few scrapes, a small hint of a crack... but this is a very healthy old instrument. The pale amber-orange varnish is clear, showing rather fine quality maple and spruce beneath.
